A digital project of the Mary B. Ansari Map Library of the University of Nevada, Reno, to bring together cartographic resources found in Nevada research institutions, including the University of Nevada Library collections at Reno and Las Vegas, the Nevada Historical Society, and the Nevada State Library and Archives.

Plats of Nevada State Lands (Mary B. Ansari Map Library, UNR) - Copies of survey plat maps in the Nevada Division of Lands at at the Nevada State Archives.  Survey maps, compiled between 1864-1927 detail natural and man-made features and indicate patent information.  This site contains helpful information on how plats were compiled and how to use and interpret them.

Historic Nevada Sanborn Maps (Mary B. Ansari Map Library, UNR) - 1879-1923.
516 full-color Sanborn maps of 28 Nevada towns.  This site, which is part of the Nevada in Maps digital collections, also includes a full explanation of the maps' component parts and notes on the location of paper maps and maps on microfilm.

nevada_sm.jpgNevada Department of Transportation  - Historical highway maps produced by NDOT, 1919-2003, and maps of historic travel routes such as the Donner Party and Pony Express.  Also available are current NDOT quad maps and area maps of smaller Nevada Communities.  The Mary B. Ansari digital collection at UNR contains many of
 the same maps but also includes maps from 1917 and a description of the collection.

David Rumsey Historical Map Collection - Over 13,600 maps online, focusing on rare 18th and 19th century North and South America maps and other cartographic materials.  Search using "Nevada."

U.S. Board on Geographic Names - The purpose of this board is to ensure standardization of geographic names."
 The search feature of this site enables the researcher to locate a geographic feature, discover the source of a name,
 view digitized topographic maps of the feature, and see an aerial photographic image map of the site.
