|
This is a brief summary of the methodology employed in the development and preparation of this publication. First, the most relevant existing preliminary reference publication and web sites were identified. Then a preliminary draft was developed. Staff from the Literacy Office and John Griffin, Contractor, met with primary stakeholders to identify what literacy-related information would be most helpful to meeting their literacy-related needs. Among others, these primary stakeholders included, but were not limited to: Nevada Department of Education's Adult Education Office, Directors of Adult Basic Education (ABE) in programs funded by the Adult Education Literacy Act (AEFLA), Nevada Department of Education and elementary and secondary education programs, and operators of pre-kindergarten programs in Nevada Based on the primary stakeholders' input, the preliminary draft was refined and a PowerPoint presentation was prepared. Public meetings were advertised and held to acquire input from other persons and organizations. Persons representing public schools, adult education programs, libraries, correctional institutions, social service agencies, and other similar organizations attended the meetings and offered input. The meetings were held in the following locations:
The draft was again revised based on the input received at the public meetings, and studies of websites that were most useful for accessing the identified information. It was made final by extensive review, study, and approval of the Nevada Literacy Office.
