Copy of Mortgage executed by J & E. Reese & Co to J.C. Fain Oct 30th 1854 in the words following - to wit
"This indenture made the first day of November 1854 between James C. Fain, of Carson Valley of Utah Territory of the first part and J & E. Reese & Co of Carson Valley Utah Territory, of the second part; witnesseth: that the said party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of three thousand dollars doth grant, bargain sell and confirm, unto the said party of the second part, and to their heirs and assigns all that piece of parcel of land bounded as follows - to wit- Beginning at a point known as the south west corner of Adam's & Brown's boundary, thence south one half mile, thence east one mile, thence north one half mile, thence west one mile along a ditch fence running between Adam's & Brown's and Fain to the place of beginning, together with
