The State Board of Finance was created in 1917 and superceded the State Banking Board, the State Board of Investments, and the State Board of Revenue. The Finance Board consists of the Governor, State Controller, State Treasurer and two other members appointed by the governor for terms of four years each. One of the public members must be engaged in commercial banking. The State Attorney General serves as the legal adviser and the Chief Deputy State Treasurer is the ex officio secretary to the Board. The Board reviews, approves or disapproves the investment policies established by the State Treasurer for investment of money of the state and has review functions of the investments of the Nevada Industrial Commission. All financing proposals of the Nevada Housing Division require prior approval of the Board of Finance and financing proposals under the City and County Economic Development Revenue Bond laws require Board approval under certain conditions. The board is obligated to review the Treasurer's investment policies at least every four months. Finance Board expenses are part of the State Treasurer's budget.

They include agendas, minutes, sign-in sheets, Treasurer's investment reports, correspondence related to agenda items, and materials related to agenda items.
