Floyd L. McKinney
Floyd McKinney was executed at the Nevada State Prison on November 27, 1943. McKinney was convicted of killing 2nd Lt. Raymond Fisher on April 24, 1943. Fisher and his wife were traveling from Camp Gowen in Boise, Idaho to March Field in Riverside, California. According to his trial, McKinney met the Fishers in Ely and convinced them to travel to California by a route other than the one they had intended. McKinney killed the couple and dumped their bodies outside Sand Springs in Churchill County, Nevada, before continuing to Reno and selling the Fisher car to a used-car dealership. He was not convicted of killing Mrs. Fisher and no motive to the crime was ever established. The Gateway, Oregon native was thirty-four at the time of his death.
