Frank Pedrini and Leroy Linden were the first double execution in the Nevada State Prison Gas Chamber on July 15, 1954. The two men were convicted for the murder of Clarence Dodd, a Lancaster, California carpenter on October 23, 1953. Pedrini and Linden had been cellmates at the Folsom State Prison in California and both had extensive criminal records. Dodd was returning home after visiting his mother in Winnemucca when he picked up Pedrini and Linden hitch hiking. Near Mustang Station, Dodd was forced to drive up an isolated canyon, where he was strangled by the two men pulling equally hard on a 30-inch length of binder twine. Pedrini, born in Los Gatos, California, was forty-six when he was executed. Linden, born in Aurora, Illinois, was thirty-four.
