John Kramer was executed at the Nevada State Prison on August 27, 1942. He was convicted of killing Frances Jones on February 15, 1940 in Ely, White Pine County, Nevada. Kramer had known Frances Jones for about 15 years and claimed she always spurned his marriage proposals. She married two other men, but continued seeing Kramer, who gave her many gifts. On February 15 they quarreled; Kramer said he was drunk and in a mad impulse shot Jones. For his last meal Kramer had fruit salad, relish, chicken soup, fried chicken with cream gravy, buttered peas, corn, shoe string potatoes, doughnuts, bread with butter, and coffee. Sixty-one years old and a Pennsylvania native, Kramer listed his occupation as miner.
