Gee Jon was the first person in the United States to be executed by lethal gas at the Nevada State Prison on February 8, 1924. He and Hughie Sing were convicted in the killing of Tom Quong Kee in Mina, Nevada. Due to his youth and the fact Gee was the trigger man, Hughie had his sentence commuted to life in prison. The murder was one of many throughout the west in 1921 due to tong warfare. Born in China, Gee spent most of his life in San Francisco's Chinatown and was a member of the Hop Sing Tong.  He was twenty-nine when he died.
