Luther Jones

Luther Jones was executed in the Nevada State Prison on January 26, 1937. He was convicted of killing Walter Godecke during a robbery in Elko County, Nevada in October of 1936. Jones, born in Amboy, Indiana in 1904, already had a long criminal record when he forced a Utah cabbie to drive him to Montello, Nevada. He let the taxi driver go but kept the cab and eventually ended up at a ranch outside Elko. In the midst of the hold-up of three men, a fourth man stumbled onto the scene and was shot. Jones then killed the three he'd been robbing. He was later arrested in Carlin.
