Joseph Behiter
Joseph Behiter was executed in the Nevada State Prison on July, 13, 1934. His crime was murdering Sylvia Reither, aka Maxine Armstrong, in Las Vegas on July 23, 1931. According to the Clark County District Attorney, the murder was "one of the most heinous crimes ever perpetrated in this county." Behiter entered the wrong room while looking for another woman and killed the victim with a miner's axe when she screamed. A native of Missouri, age thirty-three, Behiter listed his occupation as cook.
