Gregorio Arellano
Gregorio Arellano was executed in the Nevada State Prison on July 24, 1951. He was convicted of murdering Esperanza Rodriguez on August 10, 1949. Employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad until two weeks before the murder, Arellano had known Rodriguez and thought of her as his girl, though the two had never dated. On the night of August 10th, Arellano was sitting in the Crystal Bar in Sparks, Nevada, when Esperanza Rodriguez walked past after finishing work at Hilp's Drug Store in Sparks. Arellano shot her three times in the back and then attempted suicide. When he recovered, he was sent to the State Prison and was executed two years later. Born in Hanford, California in 1923, he lived the majority of his life in Mexico.
